Sue enjoys finding inspiration through multiple media. She’s been a trusted personal wealth advisor over the past twenty plus years. She’s found creative expression through music as a professional cellist even longer. Helping people find freedom, inspiration and lifetime fulfillment are her passions.
In the financial world, Sue has held leadership roles at Morningstar, Vanguard, Arthur Andersen and now Buckingham Strategic Wealth. She founded and led her own firm, Stevens Wealth Management, on Chicago’s North Shore for eighteen years.
Writing articles and books about money and meaning has been a part of Sue’s professional life since she started writing for Morningstar where she founded their personal finance newsletter “Practical Finance.” Both her books, “Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is” and “Radiant Wealth” have won multiple awards.
To make the transition from cellist to financial advisor, she earned an MBA at University of Chicago in finance, policy and accounting. Her credentials include Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, a Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist, Chartered Financial Analyst® charter holder and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. She also has a Masters of Science degree in Wealth Management from The College for Financial Planning.
Sue started playing with Lyric Opera and the Chicago Symphony as an extra/substitute cellist shortly after graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in applied music. She was a fellow at Tanglewood where she played under Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa. She played with the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center under Sasha Schneider. She enjoyed playing with Chicago recording musicians on hundreds of “jingles” as well as many pop performers doing albums, television specials, tours and concerts.
